MATROX RTMAC is a PCI video card that provides real-time DV effects processing, analog video capture and export, and support for a second computer display. When combined with Apple Final Cut Pro, the Matrox RTMac provides a professional-quality, real-time editing, compositing, and effects solution.

Traditionally video content creators had to "render" special effects before they could be viewed. Effects such as a wipe or dissolve could take several minutes of computing time before it could be displayed. If the effect didn't look right, it would have to be adjusted and rendered again.
